FAQ

When are you open and what are your ride times?
We are open 6 days a week except Monday. The morning riding times are from 8.00 to 12:00 and the afternoon riding times are from 14.00 to 17.00. Private and semi-private lessons can sometimes be scheduled at other times. The overtime surcharge for the groom will apply if you book a lesson outside working hours.

How do I get started in a class at Arthayasa Stables?
Email or call us to book your first visit and make a lesson appointment. If you already have a riding experience you will need to start with an Assesment Lesson. This way we can determine which lessons and horses would be best suited to you and offer you specific times.
All lesson appointments must be made by email at info@arthayasa.com  or by phone by calling our office at +62 21 754-7024.

What kind of riding do you teach?
We teach English riding – dressage, jumping, cross country, pleasure riding.

What equipment will I need?
The riding helmets can be initially borrowed from us, once you have decided to ride regularly with us, it is important to have your own hat professionally fitted to ensure maximum protection. We have some boots available to borrow.

It is advisable to wear leggings, track suit bottoms, comfortable trousers with a sensible pair of boots or shoes when horse riding, preferably with a small heel and a smooth sole to prevent your foot slipping through the stirrup. Hacking boots are often too large and jeans can rub on the seams in all the wrong places! Tennis shoes and hiking boots are not permitted.

Long hair should be neatly hidden under the helmet with clips or braided.  Loose, long hair is a safety hazard as it can easily become tangled in the tack during a fall!

We recommend that you invest in at least the basic riding wear, which will enable them to ride in comfort. Once you are riding you can purchase a variety of horse riding wear at our tack shop. This includes riding hats, boots, jodhpurs, gloves, riding crops and other horse riding related wear.

Do you still ride if it is raining?
Yes, we do as we have two indoor arenas.

Where are you located?
In Limo, Cinere, just before the famous Masjid Kubah Mas (Golden Dome Mosque). Here is the link to Arthayasa Stables on Google Maps

How old do you have to be for lessons?
We recommend that children are at least seven years-old before they start to ride and if they are capable of listening and following instruction on a horse. Usually small kids start their riding lessons on ponies and later when they are ready will progress to a horse.

Do you have many adult riders?
Yes, we have adult riders of all ages and abilities who ride with other adults in our club. We have those who wish to learn how to ride and those who wish to get back into riding after having ridden in their youth.

How many people are in a group lesson?
Lessons are arranged by age and ability and have from 2-4 students in them. The After School Activity groups or riding camps group can have more riders together.

Can I choose whether I want a Self-Ride or a Lesson?
Yes, but we do prefer to  know in advance of your arrival  if you would like to have an unsupervised ride or take part in a lesson so that we can effectively allocate  both instructors and horses.  However, if you do change your mind on the day we will do our best to accommodate you.

Can I choose the horse that I ride?
We always try our best to provide members with the horse of their preference, but please bear in mind this may not be possible for a number of reasons; the horse may be enjoying a rest period, being ridden by the other rider, or it may be under a lease.  If horses were machines, we could book them 24 hours a day – but they’re not, so we don’t.  We do encourage people to try different horses – it’s good experience to ride different types of horse and we always aim to provide a best horse to match the rider’s ability to help ensure complete safety.

Can I choose the instructor for my lesson?
We assign the instructors for the lessons in the Riding School. Usually you will be tought by the same instructor unless he/she is not available because of other commitments. You lesson will not be cancelled if your instructor is unavailable. We will try to substitute the instructor for your lesson if it is possible.

What if I cannot ride at my usual time or want to cancel a ride?
Firstly, please inform us immediately, even if it is last minute,  if you are unable to attend so that your slot may be offered to another Member if necessary.  If we receive a minimum of 24 hours notice, we will always do our best (but cannot promise as this is subject to availability) to find a replacement ride within five days of the cancelled lesson. If you are late for your lesson we will do our best to still provide you with a lesson but if all our instructors are busy and their students are on time – your riding time maybe shorter or you will have to wait until the instructor is available.

Do you teach horse care as well as riding?
Yes, we do. The students can book horse management lessons at any time or join the horse management courses that we organize throughout the year on various other aspects of horse care.

Do you rent horses for trail rides?
No, we don’t. We do have trail rides during classes and camps, weather permitting, but this is only for our students or horse lease clients.

What if I only want to ride occasionally?
Then you can choose to ride as a non-Member.

May I come to visit and/or watch a lesson before I sign up for anything?
Certainly. You are always welcome to drop by for an informal look around also. We are open from 9.00-18.00 Tuesday-Sunday. We try to discourage visitors between 12.00 and 14:00 as this is the time that the horses (and Instructors!) rest for lunch.   We suggest that you phone us first so that we can make sure that someone is here to show you around, particularly if you would like to talk to a member of staff to learn more about us.  How to find us

How can I pay?
You can pay by cash, credit/debit card and bank transfer.

Is Membership readily available and how can I become a Member?
Yes, you can become a member at any time. You can call our office between 9.00-18.00 Tuesday-Sunday or you can send us an e-mail at info@arthayasa.com. We can then  discuss Membership options and availability with you.

What Are the Benefits are there for Club Members?
As well as benefiting from special rates on all rides and lessons, plus priority bookings, our members will have a 10% discount in the Arthayasa Tack Shop and 10% discount in our restaurant. Also you will have an access to the full country club facilities.

I have never ridden before.  Where do I start?
We recommend that complete beginners take a few private lessons in order to learn the basics. Alternatively you can learn in a group lesson with a few other novice riders or members of your family.

How long is a horse riding lesson?
Each horse riding lesson lasts from 30 min. to 45 min. depending on the type of lesson you booked and number of students in a lesson.

How do I book a horse riding lesson?
To book a horse riding lesson, email us at info@arthayasa.com or call us on +62 21 754 7024/25. All riding lessons should be booked. Whilst it is sometimes possible to turn up without a booking, a quick telephone call saves disappointment. Once booked the space is yours. Any cancellations must be notified to us a full 24 hours in advance. Any cancellation of absence less than 24 hours in advance will be subject to a cancellation charge of between half and full price depending on the amount of notice given.
